Choosing the right Puppy

Your stocked up on puppy food, all natural dog treats and puppy training pads, the kids are excited to finally have convinced you, your spouse has reluctantly agreed, so off you go …. in search of the perfect puppy to join your family.

But wait! Before you rush off to the pet store, you need to do a bit of research and a lot more thinking. Ask yourself these questions.

  1. Do I want a rough and tumble active dog? or, a lap dog?
  2. Would my kids be too much for a little dog to handle?
  3. Big dog or little dog?
  4. Inside dog or outside dog?
  5. Do I need a dog that gets along well with other pets? Cats?
  6. Do I need a dog that’s protective? Or, one that will love everyone that comes to the house?

Take time to learn some of the Breed traits before making your choice. Once you’ve narrowed down the breed, it’s time to visit some breeders in search of the perfect puppy.

Handy tips for giving your dog medicine

Most pets are going to need some type of medication during their lifetimes and getting your pet to take that medication can be a real burden unless you know a few of these tricks. Having a bully stick handy as a reward is another great way to turn a potentially bad experience into a positive one.

Fast tip for smooth dog toe nails

We all know how much damage sharp nails can do to our tender flesh, even when it’s unintended. Small dogs seem to be the worst offenders.

Dogs will naturally scratch at you for attention or as a way of asking for an all natural dog treat.

Keeping those nails trimmed is quicker and easier with an inexpensive dremel tool found in any local hardware store.

In this video, our expert groomer shows you just how easy it is to get well rounded dog nails.

Make your own Dog Grooming Bows

My dog hates having a bow in his hair. It nearly drives him insane.

I’m not sure what the issue is… after all he is a Shih Tzu and Shih Tzus are suppose to have bows.

The only way I can get him to stop trying to remove and destroy the bow, is to distract him with a bully stick. Once the bully stick is gone, operation “Get rid of the Bow” begins again.

My sister’s dog is the complete opposite. Daisy loves being groomed and has a complete collection of bows for all occasions. She would never dream of removing a bow from her well-groomed top knot.

For those of you who want to make your own bows for your dogs accessories collection, here’s a quick easy method.

Dog Breeds - Shih Tzu

I love my Shih Tzu, but I must admit they are not known for their intelligence or their athletic ability. It’s their sparkling personality and good looks that make this breed so popular.

A word of warning if you’re considering a Shih Tzu, there is a lot of upkeep if you want that long flowing coat. On the plus side, they don’t shed which makes them ideal for allergy sufferers.

Shih Tzu’s love people and other animals, are known to be friendly with cats and kids, make wonderful companions for senior citizens and have been known to dance for all natural dog treats.

Oh, Yes One more warning… they snore!

The German Shepherd is one of the most popular breeds used for Police, Rescue, and Service dogs. They are known for their superior intelligence, loyalty and bravery.

They are naturally protective of their families which is also why they are one of the top dogs in the bites and attacks categories.

Like all dogs… German Shepherds love Bully Sticks.

The age old battle of Cats vs Dogs
In the age old battle of Cats vs Dogs, it’s seems that cats are starting to take the upper hand. I think it’s about time dogs and their owners start training better for the battle. I suggest we start with better quality food, all natural dog treats and some good old fashion exercise.
