Teaching your dog about stairs…

Going up and down stairs with an excited dog can be a very dangerous situation. Your dog needs to know the rules when it comes to stairs.

  • Never let your dog go first - The Alpha Dog (human) always goes first on stairs and through doorways. If your dog goes first, he will be under the mistaken impression that he is the Leader.
  • It’s easy for a dog to pull you down or up the stairs, causing injury
  • Never let your dog run up or down the stairs

Watch this short video to learn how to approach stairs with your dog and of course remember to reward him with an all natural dog treat when he gets it right.

Training Your Dog to use the Litter Box

Training your Dog to use the Litter Box

Teaching your dog to use a litter box is a lot easier than you might think. Dogs naturally like to relieve themselves in the same spot and are motivated by scent. These two factors are great motivators for your dog to choose a litter box.

My dog has used puppy piddle pads since the first night we brought him home. The pads have a scent that attracted him to them. It was only natural to get him to step up to the litter box. All it took was a little encouragement and a bully stick reward.

Watch this short video on How to Train Your Dog to Use a Litter Box.

Dog and Pet Doors

Dog and Pet Doors

The variety of pet doors available has certainly increased over the past few years. I’m amazed at not only the quantity but also the quality of these dog doors.

Security has always been an issue with dog doors. Many pet owners are concerned about stray animals coming into their homes through a pet door, however with the new magnetic dog doors, and the special collars used by your pet, these issues are now a thing of the past.

Most pet owners can train their pets to use a dog door within minutes using all natural dog treats as an enticement to come through the door. A smart dog will immediately come through for a bully stick.

Positive “Dog” training?

There’s something “weird” about the dog in this video but I think it proves that by using all natural dog treats, you can train any “dog” to do tricks.

I hope Kizzy motivates you to train your pup… after all, we have a reputation to protect…

David Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks

Watch this video and see the power of positive training in action. The second dog is completely focused on his handler and feels secure. His handler uses her voice along with some all natural dog treats to keep his attention. The first dog is frightened and easily distracted by the music and audience.

If you take the time to be “top dog” in your dogs eyes, he/she will be much happier, feel more secure and will be a joy to be around.

Romy’s Dog Tricks

Love this video…. not so much for the dog tricks, although Romy is adorable, but more for the obvious love and affection this guy has for Romy. He’s like a proud papa showing off his new born.

I also like that he uses a positive training method using a reward system, although again he might want to switch to an all natural dog treat.

It’s nice to know that Romy was a rescue dog with some house training issues but through love and some positive training she has become a member of the family.

Training with Dog Treats

“A dog that is trained to obey your commands will be a pleasant companion and a pleasure for everyone to be around”…. That is how this video starts out and that should be one of the first things every dog owner learns.

Training your pet to obey basic commands is your first responsibility as a pet owner, and as this video shows you, it’s starts with having a ready supply of all natural dog treats.

It really is a simple, easy process when you use the positive training methods shown here. Using healthy treats like dog bones and bully sticks is a great way to get and keep your dog’s attention.

“Training your dog is an important part of your relationship with your pet and it is not something to be taken lightly. If you want your dog to be an enjoyable companion, you must take the time to train him properly”.

Remember to use positive reinforcement and your dog will quickly and happily learn to obey your commands.
